DESCRIPTION

Howling at the moon, eating fairy tale characters, baring their fangs? Not so scary after all! A nature documentary about wolves and humans.

Wolves get a bad rap. You know: Little Red Riding Hood, the sensational stories you hear on TV, "don't look like a wolf," "don't call the wolf from the woods"... And guess what? It's all untrue. Wolves are wonderful, fascinating animals. You just have to get to know them better.

And that's exactly what the Mizielińskis have been doing for the past few years. Their guide was Michał Figura, a member The Association for Nature "Wolf", which studies wolves, lynxes and bears, works to protect these animals and educates the public about them.

The Mizielińskis' latest book is a comic book chronicling everything they've learned. In it, Michał will tell you about the structure of wolf packs, the size of wolf territories, and why wolves migrate so far. He'll comment on common myths about these animals and explain how researchers gather information: how they track and count wolves, what they can deduce from examining wolf droppings and leftovers, how a camera trap works, how a GPS collar works, and how to apply one to a wolf.

You'll also learn the true stories of specific wolves. Among them are Luna, a puppy taken from a mountain trail by tourists who thought it was a dog; Jung, who was freed from a snare; Miko and Kampinos, who were treated after being hit by a car and released back into the forest... and many others.

Humans have occupied the entire Earth and irreversibly changed it. In such a world, wild animals cannot survive without our help. But we must help wisely – guided not by emotion, but by knowledge. And this, in its broadest sense, is what this book is about.
