Hotel Grandspyszyn is a magical place. Anyone who crosses its creaking threshold and is treated to a glass of barberry juice by the owners, Łilkinson and Ella, will feel right at home. And they might want to stay forever…

The hotel's residents are equally extraordinary: the inventor Mo, who ties her long ears atop her head, the slightly nervous Mr. Libling, the shy cat Jersey, and the little ballerina Ajmi. Everyone is free to do whatever they please: paint chicken feet on white teapots, sit on the veranda gazing into the distance, go on seemingly aimless mountain hikes… or simply keep their affairs completely secret. But nothing lasts forever. One morning, the hotel guests' peace is disturbed by the arrival of Mr. Bear: a conceited astronomer and great-grandson of Lord Berlington. He claims that all of Green Hollow is threatened with destruction. Exactly what kind – nobody knows. Whether it can be prevented – even less so, but one must try! It seems that the fate of the world has suddenly found itself in the hands of very small hands…

The Grandspyszyn Hotel really existed! It was housed in my daughter's room, on three levels of a cabinet hanging above the dresser. Hania filled the shelves with tons of tiny furniture and animals. Mr. Teddy had a huge suitcase, and the cat, Jersey, was the smallest and cutest of them all… As soon as I started writing, I asked Hania, "Will you help me make up stories?" And she replied, "Mom, I don't have to make anything up. I'll just tell you what happens there."
