Basia uses many words. Some of them only she and her family know the meaning of, but other than that, they're well-known expressions, like "scrambled eggs," "Christmas tree," or "television." However, these words don't always mean the same thing to Basia as they do to you. Besides, most of them can mean something completely different to each person. For example, to Basia, a friend is someone completely different from a dad or mom. Janek, on the other hand, says "mom is mom," and to Basia, mom is a cuddle bug. What a mess! Mom knows what I want, even though there aren't any jelly beans there. I like words like jelly beans. You can't eat them, but when I say jelly beans, I immediately feel happier," agrees Basia.
