"Known as a playground for the mafia and the wealthy elite, Havana in the mid-20th century hosted a number of vibrant music clubs, such as the Tropicana and the members' guild Buena Vista Social Club. The rhythmic pulsations of habanera, Latin jazz, and salsa, heard everywhere, combined with dazzling dancers, added to the charm of the tropical island. After the 1959 revolution, many establishments closed, and thus the era of Havana ended. The scent of La Habana is inspired by my uncle, who was a sailor, and his stories about Cuba."
