Kartka Marty z Hossegor
I invite you to read a post about my family trip to the French Atlantic coast, where the rhythm of the day is set by the waves, we are surrounded daily by the scent of pine forests, greeted in the morning by loud bird songs, lulled to sleep in the evening by the croaking of frogs, and instead of sitting in traffic, we ride bicycles. The daily rush transforms into a slow pace near the beach and the ocean.
Along with these travel memories, I want to share beautiful moments with you, and also show you a more personal side of my work - with authentic moments that create our life and brand from within. For me, as a co-owner of BEBE, combining work with travel means searching for interesting gems and inspiration in new places, and testing our products in various scenarios.
Happy reading! Hugs,

How did it start?
The idea for such a trip had been germinating in my mind for a long time. I wanted to choose a place where it would be relatively warm in spring, the children would play in nature, I would have beautiful views for my home office, and Kuba would be able to surf. Additionally, I considered a relatively easy car journey to the destination so that we could easily bring the dog. Although a short plane flight sounds tempting compared to a 3-day car journey, nothing compares to the joy of traveling with our Vizsla, Ozzy.
To kick off the new year, on January 1st, I started browsing out of curiosity for beautiful rental homes near Biarritz. Kuba had mentioned this region to me several times, and we often discussed it being a great destination for a longer stay. The moment I saw an offer for a house in Seignosse (next to Hossegor), my heart skipped a beat, and I immediately knew that our dream trip had to be there. I checked our company calendar and decided that April would be the perfect time to escape Poland for a bit longer. I made the reservation and presented my family with a fait accompli – who doesn't love such surprises? :)
First days of breathing
We came to France without much of a plan – more to catch our breath and be somewhere where life moves at a slower pace. Such a change of scenery allows us to gain a fresh perspective, discover new sources of inspiration, and nurture our bonds. We also had no idea what kind of weather to expect, as April by the ocean can bring various scenarios... we packed both swimsuits and winter jackets and shoes (luckily, we mostly used our summer wardrobe).
This trip is more than just a moment of respite for us – it's also a bit of an experiment that allowed us to see what life would be like in a different environment, with homeschooling for the children and remote work. Interestingly, it turns out that slow living doesn't have to mean neglecting daily chores and school responsibilities. Homework took Tadeusz and Wanda a maximum of 2 hours a day, and when we had to work a bit more, the children spent time reading books, playing in the pool, playing tennis in the garden, and sometimes even squabbling – as you do ;). Once Kuba and I had finished all our calls, emails, and current tasks – we escaped with the children for bodyboarding, cycling, surfing, or collecting shells on the beach.
Hossegor - the French mecca for surfers
Hossegor and its surroundings are a French surf mecca, located near Biarritz and the Spanish border. Outside the summer season, it's very quiet there. It's very safe. People are positive, friendly, riding their e-bikes with boards under their arms, smiling. In the afternoons, you see kids on the beach, the same age as ours, attending group surf lessons after school. Happy dogs run on the beach, so Ozzy was also in paradise and made many new friends.
Our house was about a 5-minute bike ride from the beach, located in a district full of beautiful greenery and other charming properties. Besides the beautiful views, Hossegor captivated me primarily with its relaxed and hospitable atmosphere, thanks to which we truly felt great there. The area itself was full of cool eateries (especially for lovers of fresh oysters and other seafood), and a 10-minute bike ride from us was a lake where you could rent boats, SUPs, or pedal boats. On the ocean, there are also, of course, plenty of surf schools for children and adults.
Hossegor left us with many beautiful memories. This is certainly just the beginning of our adventure with this region of France.
The area is worth considering.
There are many interesting places to visit in this area within a maximum 2-hour drive, such as the famous Biarritz, which perfectly combines elegance and a surfer vibe. The beautiful town of Saint Jean de Luz, Spanish San Sebastian, or Bilbao.
For those a little less adventurous, who don't necessarily want to drive halfway across Europe packed to the rafters ;), there are many good flight connections from Poland to Bilbao. It's an ideal destination for a quick city break by the ocean, with the option of visiting many beautiful places in the area.
Biarritz
We spent only one day in Biarritz, and it happened to be the warmest part of the whole trip. As soon as we arrived, I was enchanted by the atmosphere of the place. Beautiful, elegant streets, houses, old luxury hotels, and at the same time, ubiquitous surfers, postcard-perfect views, and atmospheric local eateries.
Due to the considerable heat, our first steps led us to the beach to cool down the dog. Later, we visited the aquarium with spectacular jellyfish and other marine creatures. The children were fascinated. For lunch, we chose Bar Jean - an iconic eatery established in 1930, serving delicious tapas. We will definitely return to Biarritz for a longer stay, as we feel we didn't get enough.
Saint Jean De Luz - a must-see stop
Saint-Jean-de-Luz is a charming Basque town on the southwest coast of France, with a history dating back to the Middle Ages. For centuries it was an important fishing port and a base for Basque privateers. It was here that King Louis XIV married the Spanish Infanta Maria Theresa.
In Saint Jean De Luz, you must visit the legendary Maison Adam patisserie, famous for its macarons baked there since 1660 – they are divine! Another attraction of the town is a friendly dolphin living in the local bay, which is quite often seen by tourists. I also discovered a wonderful shop with antiques, old tablecloths, and a large selection of old linen shirts and slips.
San Sebastian - just across the border for coffee and Basque cheesecake
San Sebastián is a true gem of the Basque Country - a city that enchants with its interesting architecture, wide La Concha beach, and unique atmosphere.
This place is famous not only for its beautiful views but also for having one of the best cuisines in Spain. Local pintxos, fresh seafood, and atmospheric bars make every walk through the old town a culinary journey.
We started our visit to San Sebastian by visiting the iconic Pukas surf shop. Right next door is the Bassk café, offering delicious coffee and sweets. I recommend their amazing Basque cheesecake (preferably the chocolate version). For lunch, it's worth going to La Cuchara De San Telmo - there's a queue to get in, but it moves quickly (it's worth waiting :)).
Don't forget to then take a walk to the top of Monte Urgull. From there, you get a beautiful view of La Concha bay and the entire city.
