New York, Again
Hi, it's Daga. I've known BEBE for years and we work together - every day I shape BEBE's visual world. I'm more of a pictures person than a words person, so I'll keep it short and sweet. I'm inviting you to my favourite city in the world - enjoy!

The city I return to
I love New York so much that instead of going somewhere new, I often choose the same thing again - NYC. Maybe because I've already been there several times, the city from the list turned into the city I return to. And that's a completely different kind of trip.
There's no ticking off must-see points or rushing to see everything at once. I go back to the same café two days in a row, because I know it's good there. I turn into side streets, pop into bookshops, go to the cinema without worrying about wasting time, wander around and simply be.
I'm not the one for loud and touristy spots - there are plenty of guides like that online already. For me, trips are more about our time together with Wojtek, meeting friends, good coffee, food, hunting for inspiration and normal life, just in a slightly different context.
Type Drives Commerce conference
And actually, this time it all started with the TDC typography conference. I saw the announcement and my eyes immediately lit up. I thought that after a very intense, project-packed end of the year, it would be a good adventure: to travel somewhere far, listen to people who think in similar ways, and spend a moment in the world of design in New York.
One day, one room at Fordham University Lincoln Center, nothing but talks about typography and design. Among the speakers was Teddy Blanks - a New York designer who creates titles and typography for films. He was behind the titles for Barbie, Wuthering Heights, Weapons and Nosferatu. Suddenly you realise that behind the typography of films you know well are people you can listen to from a few rows away and chat with at the end of the event.
Brooklyn, baby!
Beyond the conference, this trip was mainly about Brooklyn. We spent most of our time there: wandering aimlessly, peeking into small thrift stores, video stores and bookshops. New York is full of astonishing things, and on every walk you feel like you're in a film for a moment.
The discovery of this trip is definitely Paolina Falafel - a place where you arrive and within moments know the chef's whole story, and he soon knows your whole life story too. And you get a delicious lunch out of it.
I also have really lovely memories of coffee at Blue Bottle Coffee Brooklyn and BAM Cinema - we watched Secret Agent, highly recommend!
This time we stayed at Ace Hotel Brooklyn. Even if you're not staying there, pop into the lobby. A good spot for coffee, a meeting, or a moment's rest between sightseeing. On the day we arrived there was a wedding party going on downstairs, and the first people we met in the lift were the parents of the bride and groom.
NYC fav spots gathered over the years
One last bonus from me - a few of our favourite spots that Wojtek and I have collected over the years, through repeat visits and returns to New York. If you visit any of them, let me know how it was. Better yet, pick just one place that speaks to you in particular. Not every list has to be ticked off from start to finish. Sometimes it's enough to sit for a moment, look around and catch the city's energy.
I think that's exactly why I love New York the most. When I feel myself running a bit low, I go there and come back with more enthusiasm for everything. With new ideas, inspiration, and a gentle reminder that the world is much bigger than the things I let myself worry about day to day.
EAT & DRINK
L'Industrie Pizzeria
The best pizza in New York. Hands down.
Family Meal at Blue Hill
During one of my previous visits I did a culinary stage here. Go say hi to chef Mark!
Aunts et Uncles
Vegan Caribbean food and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer.
Spicy Moon
Vegan Sichuan food. We keep coming back.
Paolina
A falafel spot we stumbled on completely by chance on our last visit - it went straight onto our list of regular stops.
BCD Tofu House
An unassuming place - order the tofu soup and trust the process.
Dark Necessity
A small Brooklyn café with a vibe that's hard to fake.
SEE, SHOP, STAY
Brooklyn Museum
Every time I look for my favorite chair there. Every time it's somewhere else.
The Met
You can spend a whole day here and leave feeling like you've barely scratched the surface.
BAM Cinema
The Brooklyn Academy of Music, with a programme you won't find at the multiplex.
Ace Hotel Brooklyn
Even if you're not staying there, pop into the lobby. A good spot for coffee, a meeting, or a moment's rest between sightseeing.
MoMA Design Store
A place I almost always leave with something small, beautiful and completely unnecessary.
Dashwood Books
For lovers of photography, books and beautifully made things.
Night Owl Video
A DVD shop that looks like a film set.
Comedy Cellar
An iconic comedy club in Greenwich Village. You never quite know who'll take the stage - and that's the whole point.
A Note of Appreciation
None of these recommendations would exist without countless walks, coffees, meals, and detours with my favorite travel companion Wojtek 💌
Can't wait for our next adventure!
What I packed for New York
I like to travel with a suitcase that isn't quite full, so there's room for various bits and pieces from the States on the way back. But there are things I never leave without.
When it comes to beauty, I've relied totally on Marta and Olga for years 🫶 Their recommendations have never let me down, so I regularly steal their latest finds. My current favourite is the Cloud Drop face SPF from Darling.
When travelling, I like to bring comfortable, good-quality pieces made from good materials. Recently the Spanish brand Cordera joined that category too, which I also discovered thanks to the girls. Beautiful cuts, great knits and clothes you want to wear all day.

Cudowny wpis! Nowy Jork w Twoim wydaniu brzmi tak klimatycznie i spokojnie, zupełnie inaczej niż w większości typowych przewodników. Zdjęcia i polecajki (szczególnie te brooklyńskie) ogromnie inspirują. Czekam na kolejne podróżnicze relacje! 🗽☕
super wpis, czekam na więcej
